Morning at Kanfanar House
We woke up to very little to eat, except the leftovers from last night, and meat & pasta isn't what kids want for breakfast. We ran out of cereal so they had to get creative with what we had. They have learned how to use the stove top to warm up leftovers, it just takes so much more work than a microwave! Most of the places we've stayed in Europe do not have microwaves & we celebrate when they do. We spent time this morning doing schoolwork, playing in the yard & doing some planning, before heading to the Croatian coast.

R&R in Rovinj
There’s been rain off & on in the area for weeks so we’ve been lucky to get sunny warm afternoons like this one. We parked next to a bakery, walked down toward the pier, found a bike rental shop & all hopped on bikes for an hour. Rovinj is a one of dozens of cute seaside towns along the Adriatic, but the only one we'll see on this trip. It was fun to get on bikes for a change & ride along the shore for some really nice views of the old city & port. The ride was a challenge for Kyra with gear shifting, up & down hills & sharing the street with cars.
Back on the pier, bikes returned, we sat & savored the flavors of our favorite ice cream sundaes. Cannon chose the candy store instead of ice cream. Being May the 4th, we saw a small restaurant sign with the reminder of 40 years of Star Wars. Makes me realize my age as Jon & I went & saw the original in 1977 at Cannon's age. Then, out of the blue, Princess Lea, a jawa & a storm trooper strolled onto the pier! Unfortunately, I had run back to the van to put another hour on the meter & missed them! Bummer. At least Cannon got a thrill & a cool pic with them. On our way through the narrow streets of old town Rovinj we passed a "Wok.about " which was perfect timing & taste variety.
