House Cleaning Day!
Our host arranged for the cleaning lady to come by this morning. She spent about 3 hours here & took our towels, sheets & pillowcases to wash them at home. What luxury! We almost volunteered to wash them ourselves but we are on vacation. The kids did school work for a few hours while she cleaned inside the house. When she left we went inside & enjoyed the fresh lemon scent!

A Quick Trip into Santa Cruz
Sydney was adamant about getting letters off to friends so she & Paul took a drive into Santa Cruz to get groceries & find the post office. The "Mega Super" market was empty so checkout was pretty quick, but it took half an hour locating the small post office after asking several people as Paul finally honed in on the repeated wave of a hand, "that way." They then had to wait in the seated line about 20 minutes before making it up to the counter. They don't take credit card so Paul had to empty his wallet of all his 6 US dollars since 1,300 colones wasn't enough (that's about $2.50). The total was about $9.00 so they were 50 cents short but the kind lady recounted & gave an affirming nod & let them go. Phew! It was about an hour ordeal that almost ended in rejection.

Sunset Playa Avellana
We spent the afternoon at Playa Avellana which has become our favorite, maybe because of Endless Summer 2 which Sydney, Carley & Stacia have been watching. This surfing documentary sequel has a scene set on Playa Avellana but it was hard to tell since sand & surf can look all the same. The girls did some surfing while Kyra, Cannon & Paul worked on a sandcastle. Carley took some close up shots of hermit crabs which are quite abundant here.

Back at the Beach House
We got back to the beach house, had papas con huevos (with or without ketchup) & one of the kids' favorites for dessert, "Yipy" candy bars which are kind of like Kit Kats, chocolate covered wafers.
