Saturday, Feb. 11 (week 3 / day 20) Casa Nirvana, CR

Home at Casa Nirvana
Today was a much needed down day, after our trip to the rainforest. Sleep in, cereal breakfast, laundry (yes, by hand again), school work, face time with friends, electronic time, etc. Cannon got out his Star Wars figures & took several pics. He can't wait for his next movie in the saga with Dad!
Cannon played with a few toys that he brought with him.
a bull showed  up right in front of our gate (you can see Cannon on the other side)

Paul took a few steps back when the bull turned his head up

We are cooking more & more like the locals here since food is not cheap. Tonight Paul cooked a pot of rice with pesto, basil & some bullion, added corn & fried sausage... mmmmm!

Our Costa Rican dinner, Avery is savoring her last bite!

A Treat on the Beach
Stacia, Sydney & Carley did go to the beach (Playa Avellana) for a few hours in the afternoon.  They rented a board & Sydney spent 2 hours working on her surf skills.  Mom & Carley enjoyed "taking in the sun."  While they were sitting there, a young guy came along selling treats.  He described his Argentine treat as three cookies layered with dulce de leche (he began describing dulce de leche but Stacia let him know she was well aware of what it is).  So, three cookies layered with dulce de leche covered in chocolate and served cold right from his cooler.  He asked if we would be interested.  Carley looked up with a smile.....  he didn't know who he was talking to.... OF COURSE we would be interested in trying a treat like that!!  It was pretty good.  We felt a little bad for not saving any for Sydney but it just so happened when she came out of the ocean for a break he happened to be walking by again.  We bought one for her to try.

On the way home we searched for a spot for a weekly surfboard rental.  We tried a couple spots and ended up talking to a guy from California who may have hit his head on a surfboard one too many times.  Anyway, he lives here full time with his Costa Rican wife who makes custom swim suits.  He showed us her little shop and promised to save the best surf board for Sydney for next week.
