Breakfast at Cabinas Piuri

We enjoyed our first typical Costa Rican breakfast at the true bed & breakfast "Cabinas Pirui" in Rio Celeste. Our host Alexander prepared a rice & beans combo that the kids said tasted like Café Rio! It also came with scrambled eggs on the side, cantaloupe & watermelon, toast with jam & hot chocolate. We ate everything on the table.

Because of the clouds, we hung out in our room for an hour debating whether to go into the park (Tenorio NP) where you hike into the jungle to see the Rio Celeste & a waterfall. We decided to skip the park since we had already swam in the blue river, hiked through jungle all week, seen several waterfalls already... & believe it or not, we were all ready to get back to our "home," the beach house!

On our way home, we stopped at a typical restaurant called a "Soda" continuing our local food theme. Despite the big breakfast in Rio Celeste, we ordered 3 big plates of arroz con pollo, baked chicken, salad & fried plantains & gobbled it down!

Playa Pan de Azucar

Instead of going straight home, we decided to hit a new beach! The guidebook says Playa Pan de Azucar (sugar bread beach) is a don't miss. The kids grumbled a bit as we parked as they thought we were at the beach house, but conceded & we enjoyed a couple hours at this nice secluded beach.

Finally back "home," we immediately turned on the AC, unpacked the car, did some laundry, each took hot showers & made a vegetable stir-fry with honeydew & watermelon for dinner. We are so ready for a day without plans!
