Thursday, May 18 (week 17 / day 116) Schwangau, Germany

Boys' Day In / Girls' Day Out
I needed a day off, so Cannon & I stayed home while Stacia took all 4 girls to the Schwangau area to see the famous "Disney castle" or Neuschwanstein Castle. The girls will elaborate on their day below...

Stacia left a school list for Cannon which we dispersed throughout the day to allow for breaks. List: read, math flashcards, write a postcard, Khan Academy math online & spelling words. Cannon is becoming a good reader, writer & mathematician. Our favorite break activity was building "Fabrik," the Lego weapons-man. His body is the free yellow Lego brick from the LEGOLAND factory with Fabrik stamped on the front.

a successful boys' day in!

Hohenschwangau Castle
The girls' first stop was the castle where the crazy King Ludwig II grew up...

Tobogan Run
The girls had about 4 hours between castle tours...

Neuschwanstein Caslte
Now for the Disney castle. This is where the inspiration came from for Disneyland's Sleeping Beauty castle. Besides using his royal fortune, King Ludwig II borrowed extensively to build this thing. When he died early at the age of 40 in 1886, the huge debt was paid for by tours which began just 6 weeks after he died...
