Friday, May 5 (week 15 / day 103) Lake Bled, Slovenia

One Last Game of Foosball

We wanted to get up early to leave by 10am so we could get up to northern Slovenia & see Lake Bled which we just heard about last Sunday. We ate another scrappy breakfast & packed up to go. Cannon & I had so much fun playing  foosball last night that we had to play one more time. We played several games & he won the last one! It's a smaller foosball table which gives him a slight advantage!

Shopping in Koper

Stacia has been reasonably concerned about our warmth in the Alps the next 2 weeks so after leaving Croatia, we first stopped at a Mall in Koper, Slovenia & found some pretty good deals: new coats for Stacia, Carley, Kyra & Cannon. Kyra also got to pick out new shoes since we left hers in Aravell, Spain & all she's worn for 4 weeks are her sandals. Carley described them as a mix between converse high-tops & vans, a local brand that was half the price of the Nike & Adidas shoes!

Bled Bakery

We passed inland near Slovenia's capital, Ljubljana, but only stopped for gas. We got to the McCall-esque resort town of Bled parked in the 1st lot we found & made our food stop at a well-stocked bakery with large pizza slices, the highly advertised local banana cream-cake & even burritos! This was a yummy & cheap food stop to fuel us up.

 

 

Lake Bled

This is a beautiful lake. It's like McCall but with a castle on a cliff. The goal for Sydney & Carley was to jump in the chilly lake so they got their swim suits on under their clothes to be ready. The outside temperature was about 65 degrees & sunny, but the water temperature was 52 degrees per google, that's chilly! There wee only a few other people around, mostly in boats & coats who were laughing at the 2 girls on the shore about to take the plunge...
