Tarragona
We decided to take a day trip out of Barcelona since we now have our 8-passenger Citroen van. We all walked about 10 minutes from our apartment to the parking garage & loaded up. The van GPS works really well so it's just a matter of following the blue line & deciding fast enough if you are exiting or turning onto the right street. It takes about 1 & 1/2 hours to get there & we passed by some quaint Spanish towns & farms along the way.
Tarragona is built up around ancient Roman ruins with an amphitheater right by the Mediterranean Sea. The panoramic view from the promenade was beautiful! A lot of the old town has been rebuilt since Roman times but it is still a neat place just to walk around. We sat & ate in one of the courtyards & there was an old wall that must have been Roman ruins!

Some reeealy nice old ruins. The city dwellers look like they give up front yards to be compact.
ReplyDeleteI love, love your posts. They are the favorite part of any day when I see a new one or read a former one. Looking back, Kyra, is there a story starting in your mind that features your experience with the elephants? I thought that you MUST write about that some day. Sarah said she was so happy for you...and a little jealous. Mostly happy.
ReplyDeleteMike and I were in Barcelona some years back. We had a good time and saw some things you also saw. I'll share one experience with you when you return. Sarah told me she sent you a long email with information about Paris. Did it arrive?
When you return, you might have a feeling many travelers do: that the USA is really young! After I saw ruins and many buildings in Europe, some of our historical buildings looked young by comparison.
It's so fun to picture you each day. I have a ton of admiration for all of you; can't wait to read your next post and of course, to see you again this summer.
Hey, by the way, Michael is opening his mission call letter tonight.
Sending much love, Margo
